Experimental Study on the Accumulation of Cadmium and Other Metals in the Fish Bodies(Oryzias latipes)

Abstract
In order to assess the accumulation levels of cadmium(Cd) and other metals(Zn, Cu, Ca and Fe) in fish bodies, the fry of Oryzias latipes was raised in water containing 0.03ppm cadmium(group II), 0.03 ppm cadmium and zinc(group III) and in the tap water(control group). The concentrations of Cd in fish bodies were increased with advancing exposure time in group II and III, but there was no significant difference between soup II and group III in Cd concentrations. There was no change in the concentrations of Zn in fish bodice with advancing exposure time in control group and group II, but it was increased in group III. And the Zn concentration of group III was significantly different from control and group II. The concentrations of Cu, Ca and Fe in fish bodies were increased with advancing exposure time, and those of control group were higher than any other groups. Simple correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between Cd and Zn, Cu and Ca and Fe, and Ca and Fe, respectively. However Cd showed a negative correlation with Cu, Ca and Fe. In conclusion, we found a tendency that the concentration of Cd and Zn in ash bodies tended to increase with the lapse of time, but Cu was unchanged and those of Ca and Fe were decreased when treated with the trace dose of Cd and Zn in water.
